Fiona Lu at Kenyon Young Writers Workshop

Fiona (AQF '23) just got back from Kenyon and shared her experience with us.

“The Kenyon Review Young Writers program was my first experience meeting other teen writers in person, and it was absolutely unforgettable. I received constant motivation to write from my instructors, my peers, and our workshops, and came out with a variety of great pieces from both inside and outside of class.

Though our schedule was pretty packed, it allowed us to get a lot done while still leaving time for scheduled and unscheduled leisure activities. Plus, Kenyon’s campus was so beautiful—especially if you’re a lover of gothic architecture!

Most of all, I miss the people I met at Kenyon. Having just come back, I still think fondly of my “study” sessions with my friends at Chalmers library, freewriting with Paige and my workshop group, staying up until 3 to watch anime with a friend, having a picnic outside our dorm building, and eating ramen I borrowed from my roommate.

To all those reading this, I’d definitely recommend applying for Kenyon’s residential writing program as well as the Anthony Quinn Scholarship!”
