Alexander Trufanov

2016 Instrumental Scholarship Recipient

For Alexander, being a musician is not a decision but a way of life. His musical journey began at the age of 5, and since then, music has been an integral part of his existence. He started his training at the Academy of Choral Art for 2 years and currently attends a specialized music school for gifted children. Alexander cannot imagine pursuing any other path; music is his true passion.

Despite the challenges he faces, Alexander's dedication to music is unwavering. He spends three hours each day commuting between his home and music school, fully aware of the sacrifices required. His commitment is fueled by his deep love for music, which makes the difficult journey worthwhile.

Alexander's musical skills are diverse, encompassing the horn, piano, trumpet, composition, and conducting. While he enjoys playing the horn and piano, his ultimate goal is to become a conductor. Alexander is confident in his ability to interpret and showcase music both as an instrumentalist and a conductor. With the support of the Anthony Quinn Foundation he will be able to attend the National Symphony Orchestra National Trustees’ Summer Music Institute at the Kennedy Center.

With years of intensive training and a genuine passion for music, Alexander is optimistic about his future success in studying at a conservatory. He understands that true excellence comes from doing what one loves, and he is determined to continue pursuing his musical aspirations.
