Isabella Rebollo

2020 Visual Arts Scholarship Recipient

Isabella, a 16-year-old from Puerto Rico, is passionate about theater design and its ability to tell heartfelt stories. She believes that theater has the power to change lives and wants to be part of the creative team that brings those stories to life. Isabella sees the Design/Tech Program at The Cherubs at Northwestern University as the perfect opportunity to prepare for her future in the field. She is drawn to the program's promise of real-life experience and a student-centered approach to learning.

Although Isabella was classically trained in dance from a young age, it was through a Performing Arts Seminar that she discovered her interest in theater and musical theater. The seminar provided a comprehensive overview of the performing arts, introducing her to various aspects like audition techniques and lighting design. This exposure made her realize the multitude of possibilities within the field and the potential to combine her talent and passion in different ways.

During the seminar, Isabella organized a successful fundraiser event where she produced and directed her own Jukebox Musical. This experience allowed her to showcase her talent and creativity, as she designed animated drawings and crafted a captivating story with popular music. It was a pivotal moment for Isabella, confirming her passion for being part of the creative team in theater arts.

Isabella is eager to pursue her passion and is applying for the Theatre, Design/Tech Program at The Cherubs at Northwestern University. She hopes to expand her knowledge, gain insights from professionals in the field, connect with like-minded individuals, and form lasting friendships. Ultimately, Isabella aims to learn how to tell compelling stories and is excited about the prospect of gaining a glimpse into her future through this program.
