In Hae Yap

2013 Instrumental Scholarship Recipient

In Hae's life has been intertwined with music since her earliest memories. With a mother who holds a deep passion for music, she has inherited the same love and devotion. From the Beatles to Beethoven, In Hae finds solace and inspiration in the diverse range of musical genres. Her journey in music began with the piano and later extended to the violin, both of which have become constant companions in her daily life. Engaging in various musical activities, In Hae has played a significant role in the New York City's Inter-School Symphony Orchestra, performing at prestigious venues such as Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall.

She currently serves as the orchestra's assistant concertmistress and is a member of the Trio. Additionally, she plays the first violin in her school orchestra and has attended a chamber music camp, where she was selected to represent the organization. In Hae's desire to continue her growth as a musician, she aspires to attend the Manhattan School of Music program this summer. Recognizing the importance of a solid foundation in music theory and musicianship, In Hae sees this program as an opportunity to broaden her horizons beyond performance and become a well-rounded musician.

The program's emphasis on composition, theory, and communal musical activities resonates with her aspiration to be a "whole musician." Through masterclasses, concerts, and interaction with professionals, In Hae hopes to gain deeper insights into music and effectively convey the intentions of composers to the audience. Receiving a scholarship from the Anthony Quinn Foundation will enable her to participate in this transformative experience.
