2017 Musical Theatre Scholarship Recipient

Katie's journey in performing arts began at the age of six when she unexpectedly landed a role in a production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. This experience ignited her passion for theater and marked the start of her performance career. However, she traces her love for entertaining people back to her early childhood days when she would dress up as "Sugar Mama" and dance around the house. As a junior in high school, Katie has set her sights on pursuing a music theater degree in college and believes that the Florida State Music Theatre Intensive is the perfect program to help her achieve her goals.

The Florida State Music Theatre Intensive is tailored for high school students who aspire to pursue a career or degree in music theater. Katie recognizes the School of Theatre at FSU as one of the best in the country, making this program an ideal opportunity for her to receive top-notch training. With a focus on acting, singing, and dancing, she hopes to strengthen her skills and delve deeper into character development, motivation, and technical aspects such as lighting and set design. Katie aims to become a well-rounded performer, and she believes that the Anthony Quinn Foundation Scholarship, along with the FSU summer intensive, can provide her with the necessary preparation for college and a future professional career.

Performing is an integral part of Katie's identity, and she finds pure joy when she takes the stage. Theater has become a significant aspect of who she is as a person, and she considers it an inseparable part of her life. The Florida State University music theater program represents an exceptional opportunity for Katie to enhance her performance skills, work towards her college goals, and continue pursuing her passion for theater.
